lately,
how i learned never to use flower food, the perfectly natural bee stung lip color and my favorite follow on IG lately.
i’ve debated and decided against a substack a handful of times now, but ultimately i’ve decided let’s go for it. i started all of this with my writing more than anything else - and i appreciate that everyone here is here because they want to actually read versus just ingest the constant brain suck mind f*** videos on repeat.
to be honest, it’s making me a bit crazy lately. i am going to try to make a concerted effort to spend less time on those apps (despite being 100% addicted), because i walk away feeling drained and completely uninspired which can be a real bummer when my job depends on being constantly inspired.
that is something i struggle with every new year, for the first couple months i can’t seem to escape this rut of unproductiveness and just feeling sort of lost. obviously this year was especially challenging with what’s gone on in LA but i’m currently trying to crawl out of a deep rut!
anyway, if you’re reading this - i appreciate you and the support you’ve given me over however long it’s been. i wouldn’t be able to do this with you guys and i want these emails to feel like you’re just casually hearing from a friend.
i am sorry for the rant and i hope most of these emails will just be a good time :)
what i see from my bed while daydreaming of a life in new england.
what i’ve been doing lately:
my brother made me tag along to a horror convention with him last weekend and i’ll be happy to never have to attend one again!
we’ve also started seriously decluttering our house (much, much needed)… i am not one of those moms who spends their time donating toys that are unplayed with, instead i let them build up until we’ve slowly run out of all storage space. dreaming of a proper playroom for them!
what i’ve watched lately:
lots of movies because i was sick in bed for over a week! but it was so fun to have so many things i wanted to see streaming for free!
saturday night - there were things i enjoyed about it but a few casting choices that bothered me and overall it didn’t really say much at all?
it’s what’s inside - wow we loved this. stylish, intense and fun to watch.
smile 2 - worlds better than the first one that i was so bored by i almost didn’t watch this one. pretty much the same movie as the first, but a much more exciting setting and a much better lead!
blink twice - i think this movie was robbed, zoe totally deserves a directing nom for what she did! it’s enjoyable to watch while also being totally anxiety inducing. i also think she did a good job not overdoing it with the gratuity of the SA (spoiler but if you don’t know the plot where you been?)
a real pain - a bit slower than i was expecting based on the reviews, but poignant and great performances from both of them.
what i’ve made lately:
this lemon chicken was SO easy, perfect for a weeknight when you have chicken breasts in the fridge and not sure what to do with them (happens often over here)
miso butter cabbage - the sauce on this is so good! we paired it with trader joe’s soup dumplings which we have happily discovered is totally a decent alternative to the very expensive din tai dinners we’ve been addicted to and are trying to quit.
cherry crostinis - i thought this would make a very cute valentines snack and my kids both loved the look so much they didn’t even question what was on it. i just topped toasted baguettes with ricotta, cherry tomatoes, chives and little basil leaves.
what i’ve worn lately:

the most beautiful dress in my closet - i feel so good in this. you can use code MOLLY10 to save.
and the lip color - it’s called bisou balm and i was influenced by a girlfriend wearing it. it’s the most perfectly natural blurring tint. the sheer color looks like you were blessed with rosy bee stung freshly kissed lips, i love a sheer coat but you can layer too! (i’m wearing the Bêtise color)
what i’ve loved lately :
“on flowers” by emily merrick — tbh i pick up plenty of coffee tables and sort of just glance over them and then stick them on a table, but i couldn’t put this one down! i’ve wanted to learn more about how to beautifully arrange florals myself and this taught me lots of tricks i didn’t know.
i also loved her storytelling, which you wouldn’t expect within a floral book, but when you get a copy you’ll see!
this INCREDIBLE martha’s vineyard compound by mother studio - you may know i love anything martha’s vineyard but the design of this home is beyondddd. i pinned basically every room.
never have i thought of adding a swing arm light above your stove. brilliant!
i started following justine’s table a few months ago and she is just so inspiring, her dishes are incredibly prepared and plated but also seem effortless? the vibes are just immaculate.
